MiMi's Dreams Menstrual Pad (Second) Review

While browsing through my inbox one evening, I saw a lovely e-mail from the creator the MiMi's Dreams pads. She had read my previous review about her menstrual pads and had since made a few improvements to her products. She suggested I try one or two of her newly improved pads out, and, eventually, offered one pad for a free trial of sorts. I decided to roll with it, choked up my mailing address, and awaited the arrival of the pad. (As a note: this was not a trade-off for a review; I am reviewing the product just because I want to review it.)

She gave me a choice in which type of pad I wanted (meaning: lite/light, regular, or overnight). I chose a regular absorbency menstrual pad from her. When we were in contact it was near the beginning of October and my period wasn't due until near the end of the month so it was all a big waiting game for us both.

Nonetheless, I received the pad in the mail in just a couple of days--a lot faster than I had anticipated. I ripped the package open and gave it a good look-over. The backing seemed better--it was a tad fluffier fleece, I believe, and the top was a cotton. It didn't seem very thick but it was a good length (I'd say about the size of any regular length disposable pad, as a comparison). The wings folded well and had a plastic snap closure.

The best part about this pad though was that it was theme. Holiday themed at that. It has the most adorable pattern ever designed for Halloween. Purple and black cuteness. I swear. It has to be one of the best cloth pad patterns I've seen and own. I was more than pleased by her selection of material.

So, I waited around for my period. I looked at my previous review of MiMi's Dreams pads where I didn't really have a lot of negativity with it. Overall, those pads are slightly bulkier than other ones I own but they're still good quality.

When my cycle began and I bled like I was being gutted, I threw this lovely Halloween pad on first. The backing is absolutely my favorite since it didn't slide or move around unexpectedly at all. It seemed absorbent and nice. My only tiff was that the cotton cover was slightly stiff and I prefer super soft, silky period pads. (Hey, if I want to feel luxurious then I should be able to...right? Don't judge me!)

Overall, the pad was good. I wouldn't say it was anything other than good quality but I wouldn't say it was excellent. I had no leaks, which is amazing. It didn't bunch up and didn't move. It didn't stain and washed incredibly well. It had a good length, width, and did give me that little hug that I so love from cloth pads.  I just wish the cotton was extraordinarily soft. If I had to rate the pad, I'd give it a 9/10 rating. I'd definitely buy them (and I intend to) since it appears they're the prettiest of my collection as it currently stands.

So, I think these pads are more season-themed than anything. Perhaps that's her niche--and a good one, at it! In checking out her Etsy, I see she has a lot of autumn themed pads. Fall pads? Yes, please!
